Unshaven Hair Transplantation

Hair transplantation offers a definite solution to baldness, but the shaving before the operation causes troubles for many patients, especially women. Many people withdraw hair transplantation due to shaving phase. Unshaven hair transplantation is a type of operation that has existed for a long time but started to spread newly in Turkey. Unshaven hair transplantation can be performed with FUT, FUE and DHI techniques. However, FUT technique is undesirable nowadays due to its disadvantages. Therefore, unshaven applications in FUE and DHI techniques are in the foreground. The duration of the operation in hair transplantation varies according to the number of grafts and the experience of the surgeon. In general, hair transplantation with FUE technique is completed between 5 and 10 hours, and with DHI technique it is completed between 10 and 20 hours and at least 2 days. However, unshaved operations are more difficult than usual hair transplant techniques for the doctor. This means that the operation lasts longer and requires more effort. There are also disadvantages as well as advantages of unshaven hair transplant. Therefore, unshaven hair transplantation is generally preferred for small areas. For larger areas, the dhı technique can be performed, but costs and time are increased substantially. The patient must consider all of these before deciding on the operation.

Advantages of unshaven hair transplantation

• Hair is not shaved.
• It is almost impossible to see the scars because the area where the hair follicles are collected will be covered with other hairs.
• Because very few hair follicles are planted in operation, recovery will be much faster depending on this.
• After the operation, thin scabs are formed. These scabs shed like dandruff at first. As the patient begins to wash his/her hair, these scabs are entirely over after a short period of about 8 to 10 days.

Disadvantages of unshaven hair transplantation

• The number of hair follicles that can be taken in a single session is very limited. This makes it impossible to make a dense-looking hair transplant.
• It lasts longer than the Normal Hair Transplanation
• It is more costy than standard hair transplantation techniques.
• More effort is required to provide hygiene during the hair transplantation process.
